Norm of Life..

kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahan nahin milta
kahin zameen to kahin aasman nahin milta

jisay bhi dekhiyay woh apnay aap mein gum hai
zuban mili hai magar hum zuban nahin milta
kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahan nahin milta....

bujha saka hai bhala kaun waqt kay shoulay
yeh aisi aag hai jis mein dhuaan nahin milta
kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahan nahin milta....

teray jahan mein aisa nahin kay pyar na ho
jahan umeed ho iski wahan nahin milta
kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahan nahin milta
kahin zameen to kahin aasman nahin milta...

Meanings
Mukammal : Accomplished

This is one of the beautiful Gazals. Even though, it feels like song of a pessimist, it is just a lucid way of expressing the norm of life. The poet expresses lack of accomplishment in spite of all the luxuries and comforts. One way or another, everybody goes through the phase of unsatisfactory life. Even though that unsatisfactory prevails in everybody, no one has any complaints with the life, everybody learnt the way of living a life of nonchalance.

This is one of the songs you want to listen to, sipping a cup of tea (I prefer tea to coffee) on a cold day, standing in the balcony, staring into oblivion, thinking deep on your life. Let me remind you one more time, it is not a sad song or the mantra of pessimist; it’s just a way of expressing the widespread scarcity in our lives.
